Description of Capcom vs. SNK 2

Anyone who's ever played a beat-'em-up will know the basic rules of the genre--hit your opponent until they fall down--but Capcom vs. SNK 2 EO adds additional options that will keep fans happy for months. There are six different fighting styles (or grooves), a terribly complex ratio system for choosing a team of up to three fighters (although oddly there's no tag option), and a veritable feast of minor options and game modes.

Basically, if you like this sort of thing, you'll absolutely love Capcom vs. SNK 2 EO--except there's a rather big "but" coming up. As you may have noticed, the GameCube's controller isn't really very well suited to this sort of game, so Capcom has created a rather odd alternative control system that puts all the special moves within easy reach on the C-stick. Hard-core fans are likely to upchuck at the very thought, but it is relatively playable in a shallow, Mortal Kombat kind of way. The normal six-button control method is still included, but it really only works if you can use a proper arcade-style joystick with it. --David Jenkins
